Welcome to thai.biatch0.net

I’ve decided to document my somewhat non-standard journey in (debatable) Thai language literacy here in the hopes that it may help others who would like to follow in my footsteps down this treacherous path full of unexpected twists and turns.

Before we move on, a bit of background – I spent a couple of years prior to COVID going in and out of Thailand, and from COVID onwards, became a somewhat permanent fixture, only spending short stints outside the country. In this time, I’ve picked up what I consider to be a “moderate” amount of spoken Thai and Isaan, but for one reason or another, have never really put my mind into learning how to read or write.

The Importance of Thai Language Proficiency

In hindsight, I should really have started, even if it wasn’t at an accelerated pace. So much wasted time… BUT… no better time to start than now. Now, don’t get me wrong – my spoken Thai definitely helped (or helps depending on when you are reading this).

I’ll do my best to break everything down into separate posts that focus on separate parts/issues, so it’s a little easier to “follow” the journey without getting bogged down by 10,000 different things that you had no interest in whatsoever.
